Start Your Engines

Whenever I pop on this printed top (last seen here), I instantly feel a little bit cooler. Paired with an asymmetrical skirt and linen motorcycle jacket, this look is fit for any authentic biker babe. As a rule of thumb, unexpected accessories are the best way to  punctuate any look. In this case, bright pumps and candy colored baubles do just the trick. Can’t wait to watch the season finale of Scandal tonight and pack my bags for the beach. Get this girl a tan, ya’ll!

Tropical State of Mind

This is the final countdown to a week long beach vacation next week with Laura, so why not get a jump start on tropical dressing? This bold flora and fauna clad dress pairs perfectly with a blue t-strap heel (last seen here) and my favorite spicy lip (last seen here). I hope your week is off to a great start. Keep it real!

Oops I Did It Again

This is a formula I’ve been really into lately (read: possibly over doing?). Girly dress meets moto-crossed jacket meets jazzy heel seems to be on repeat, but it’s just so easy. Yesterday, this look transitioned seamlessly from a busy day in the office to an evening event honoring my boss and on to an after-party. Talk about no fuss. Happy Friday!

Chaos to Couture

The stars showed up in droves last night to the Met Gala dressed to impress in punk rock couture. There’s nothing like a good theme party to kick the week off right. Extra points went to those who really stuck to the theme and took a few risks along the way – black lips, pink hair, smokey eyes and studs galore. Meanwhile, the hostess with the mostess, Anna Wintour, showed up in a floral gown fit for tea with the Queen. Talk about a power play. She does what she wants.

Who’d you love and who’d you hate? Here are my faves. Worst dressed is a toss up between Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry and Kristen Stewart. Get cooler, gals.

Kickin’ It

Orange pants and a worn in military jacket give this look a downtown, cool vibe. It’s really more characteristic of my bestie, Laura, but it’s nice to break away from my unapologetically girly norm from time to time. I’m excited to be heading to Raleigh, North Carolina for a  wedding weekend that’s sure to be filled with quality time with friends, delicious treats and plenty of dancing. Happy Friday!

Technicolor Dreams

Warm weather seems to be here to stay, so this bright tweed skirt, reminiscent of Joseph’s Technicolor Dreamcoat, seemed to fit the mold for bringing spring cheer to the office. I tucked a leather peplum top (last seen here) into the skirt and tossed on my trusty navy blazer to keep the mix of fabrics interesting. I loved this edgy, lace up sandal so much that I got the tan scalloped version as well. You know what they say – if it ain’t broke, buy it every color!

Don Draper

Pardon my brief hiatus from alisted last week while I wore ugly outfits. Just kidding! Things have been positively bustling over at Marie Claire with spring events galore, but I am happy to be back and ready for action. I donned this draped blazer and leather skirt combination last week, in an effort to embrace the final days of leather jacket season. To top it off, I’m not sure what’s more unexpected – a sporty sandal with a pop of color or my favorite green tea from Starbucks with my name spelled correctly. I think I’ll call it a draw!

Bridge Over Troubled Watercolor

Boy meets girl in this watercolor floral dress (last seen here) plus army inspired jacket.  I kept the color coming with bright sandals and slightly mismatched earrings that remind me of Kate Bosworth’s eyes. Meanwhile, I have been dying to get in on the mirrored shades trend, but I just hadn’t found quite the right pair until these over-sized suckers caught my eye. The best part is that I can get away with staring at people, while you can fix your lipstick or fluff your ‘do in your reflection. Everybody’s winning!

Sunshine Day

I’m loving the unexpected combination of neon green with a teal, floral print. The simple cut of the skirt and top (last seen in this throwback) create a lady-like silhouette allowing the bold color scheme to take center stage. When it came down to accessorizing, I grounded this slew of brights by adding dark leather accents. Last but not least, these glitter sunglasses allow me to call Miranda Kerr a “style twin,” since an “identical height twin” is definitely a bit out of my reach.

Bombs Over Baghdad

There’s nothing better than dressing down on the weekends. I took it way, way down on Saturday with denim on denim topped off with a floral and leather bomber. I first laid eyes on this jacket in Nashville at New Years and hadn’t been able to stop thinking about it. When it popped up on the Scoop online sample last week for less than half price, my size was the only one available. Talk about meant to be. Total score. Happy Monday!
